Based on Turbosmart’s award winning electronic StraightGate50 technology this new range of 50mm butterfly style Straight gates take Turbosmarts proven butterfly valve extrenal wastegates and allow integration with selected OEM electronic wastegate control motors.

The Modular Series of Straight Gate’s opens up a new world of boost control for engines that came fitted with electronic wastegate actuation by retaining the OE actuator but inserting a high flowing external wastegate.

The Modular StraightGate50 is a zero-offset butterfly style wastegate which allows enormous flow and almost linear control with unparalleled boost control throughout the entire operating range. Just like the factory intended, no reference hoses, no springs and no diaphragms, the Modular StraightGate50 utilises the existing full electronic control unit combined with Turbosmart’s flow leading 50mm StraightGate50 butterfly valve for maximum exhaust flow.

Electronic actuation results in the widest possible tuning window from zero boost (if manifold priority allows for it) to all available boost. Because the Modular StraightGate50 utilises the factory fitted electronic control motor control of the motor and wastegate can still be done through the existing electronic systems (reprogramming required).

The Turbosmart StraightGate50 has been designed from the ground up and validated in-house to create a new level of control and flow, never seen in any wastegate before it. The zero-offset butterfly valve is subjected to exhaust drive pressure equally on both halves of the valve which pivots centrally, resulting in a valve that is self-balanced against any drive pressure.

This self-balancing means less work is required to actuate against even the highest of drive pressures and a wider tuning window is possible, no matter how the valve is actuated. The increased flow is achieved through the efficiency of a straight through valve versus a traditional poppet style valve where the exhaust gas must be turned 90 degrees by the valve.
